I'm trying out wordpress and I like it so far, let me know what you think!

So I'll continue blogging on johannaindubai.wordpress.com

15 Reasons to Use Apple Cider Vinegar Every Day

We just watched the newest episodes of our favorite series, Homeland and How I Met Your Mother. Perfect end to a productive, but homey day.
I always end my day by drinking a glass of unfiltered apple cider vinegar mixed with water. I read an interesting article on MindBodyGreen called 15 Reasons to Use Apple Cider Vinegar Every Day. So I’ve been drinking it ever since I got to Dubai and I’ve really felt it helps. Okay, I’m not the kind of person who gets sick, I rarely do so of course I can’t say that this would be the reason why I haven’t been sick once even a little bit, but somehow I feel better and my stomach feels better.
I buy it at the Organic Food Store in Dubai Mall. They have one in the Greens as well. By the way, that’s where I find kale for my juices (if anyone in Dubai wants to know).
Going to get ready for bed now. I’m meeting a friend in Dubai Mall tomorrow. She moved here yesterday from London and we’re taking her two little cute boys to the Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. Her husband is childhood friends with Mikko, we spent the evening with them yesterday and I just can’t believe they live here now, it’s so cool.
‘Til tomorrow. Good night!

Sax sessions

Our home has turned in to a studio. Awesome. The neighbors might not agree though (saxophone can be pretty loud).
I've sung vocals on 4 tracks and now Matt is recording sax.

Espresso martini's are getting us in to the right vibe and soon we're gonna order some thai food from our favorite place 'round the corner, The Kitchen of Thai. Their food is delicious, authentic and spicy. Yum!

Check out this cool pic Matt snapped from our balcony:

Music, duh

Oh, I forgot to mention quite a big interest (part of my life), MUSIC.
I was going to write "well that's given/obvious", but then realized I actually have a few musician friends who hardly listen to music at all. Which I find weird.
Anyhow, I'm a big-time music consumer. And I love Spotify.
So when I discover new artists or tracks and make new playlists I might link to them here and write about it.

I keep writing "might". I'll just have to see what inspires me on that particular day and of course, what you are interested in reading about.. :)

Okay so I'm still sitting by the kitchen table in my pj's. Come on woman, make yourself look representable!
But I love days-off like this when you actually don't have to get dressed. Well, unless you're having guests over soon.
Okay bye.

Introduction

So, what am I going to write about?
I was thinking about this the other day and figured I'll write whatever comes to mind naturally for a start and then see what the blog turns in to with time. So no "theme" for the time being.

I guess it'll be a bit of what's going on in my life here, experiences in Dubai so that my friends and family back home can stay up-to-date.
But also about my range of interests that are starting to form quite a long list nowadays.

The newest addition to my hobbies is JUICING! I'm very hooked on this, it's how I start off my mornings and I'm excited about what an interesting array of fruit and vegetables I can find in the stores here and how cheap it is compared to back home. Luxury.
So I might start posting some of my weird recopies of delicious juices (that no one else will drink, hehe..)
One of my favorites: celery, kale, parsley, chili, carrots, lemon, cucumber and green apple. Sound funky? I promise you that after a while you start to crave the taste! And you can also add a bit of stevia for sweetness.
AND it's so healthy, I've noticed I don't need coffee in the mornings anymore...

Another semi-new hobby is Ashtanga Yoga. Totally hooked on this as well, yoga makes me feel so good physically and mentally.
Along with this I've developed an interest for well-being, mindfulness and healthy eating. I guess they kinda go hand in hand. One of my favorite blogs is MindBodyGreen.com, there's so many interesting articles, check it out!

I'm also really into cooking nowadays. I was a useless cook as a teenager, not interested at all. But I guess this is something that started developing slowly as I moved away from home and now, after having lived in hotels and hotel apartments eating restaurant food for a couple years my cooking interest  is thriving and I'm loving my new kitchen.

Wandering around the malls looking at all the beautiful things, clothes, accessories, furniture, food is something I just can't get enough of. So when I find cool stuff I might post it here..

Other hobbies include: running, going for walks around the lakes in JLT, paddle boarding, drinking espresso martinis on our balcony and chatting away with good friends, going out dancing in Dubai (there are so many good clubs!), listening to live music and being inspired by talented colleagues, tanning with a good book and cozy evenings at home with my husband watching movies.

So I guess all of this will form what my blog will be. I've been really lousy at taking pictures the past half year but I promise to try to be better at this. :)

I'll also make a "favorites" list of things to do and see in Dubai. At the moment my tab is only in Swedish. Please feel free to ask if anyone has any questions!

Okay, I have to go brush my teeth, get dressed and sing a couple of notes before Matt comes knocking on our door.

So long for now.

I'm back!

I got an urge to start blogging again last week while wandering around the mall. I was inspired by all the beautiful things I saw and wanted to share.

However, this time it feels more natural to start writing in English.
For one (obviously) because I'm living in a country where English is the main language and I speak it most of my day (I feel that I even think in English from time to time).
Secondly, I figured it will be good practise.
And then of course so that my large, very multi-cultural group of friends over here can understand. :)

My intention was to start blogging again already after the summer when we moved back here, but the first couple of months flew by with apartment hunting, buying a car, the new job, lots of hassle but even more excitement. Over time I'll tell you all about it.

Anyways, now we're settled in our beautiful new home and life feels pretty awesome :)

We moved on from Healey's and Bonnington (we spent 9 wonderful months there but it felt like it was time to try something new) and we're now performing 4 times a week at Sofitel Jumeirah Beach.
It's been great so far, we received a warm reception and the staff is so friendly. I'm enjoying not being so "tied" to work (before we used to play 6 nights a week... phew) it's awesome to be able to live a more "normal" life on the side and work feels more fun as we don't get so sick of our repertoire as quickly.

Our initial plan was also to freelance on the side, mix it up a bit and play with other musicians as well. We're actually getting started with this today as our super-talented saxophone playing friend Matt is coming over in an hour to record a demo with us.

....I'm thinking I should post this for now as I'm fearing no one will have the energy to read this if I go on and turn this in to the start of a book.

Yeah that makes sense, bye lovelies!

HIMYM & plättmorgon

Mooorning! Har haft en mycket långsam och skön start på dagen. How I Met Your Mother och plättar!!

Ciao x
